(Mandatory Disability Insurance)
The STF Income Continuance Plan (ICP) is a mandatory disability benefits plan for Saskatchewan teachers. The Plan provides financial protection in the event that a medical disability prevents a teacher from working after paid sick leave benefits have been exhausted. The Plan was designed and is administered by the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation through the ICP Board of Trustees with the Council of the STF retaining authority to approve changes in premiums.
and the Teachers’ Disability Benefits Plan (Mandatory Disability Insurance)
STF Income Continuance Plan (ICP) monthly benefits are coordinated with other sources of income you may be entitled to during your disability. If you are a teacher covered by the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Superannuation Plan (TSP), one of those sources of income is the disability allowance you may be entitled to, or would be entitled to receive if all contributions and service were credited to you, including refunded service.

A “leave of absence” is approved time away from your teaching position while under contract, as provided within your local collective bargaining agreement, by legislation or by mutual agreement. Full salary, partial salary or no salary at all may be provided during the period of leave.
It is important to assess your situation and determine the implications of a leave of absence in all aspects, and particularly in continuity or entitlement to benefits. There may be preventative measures that will minimize the risk of any of these aspects being a problem in any given situation.
