As it is a priority for LPSD, I thought I would take the time in 2017 to write a monthly blog post to discuss wellness with our staff and the public.
Highlights of the first LPSD On the Way to Wellness staff email was information on Emotional Intelligence and a personal assessment quiz. How we work together as a staff and division is an integral part in determining our success. Teamwork, understanding and communication are all values to help ensure healthy emotional intelligence is present in the workplace.
In 2013, Jeremy Marchant wrote an article on why emotional intelligence is important in an organization. He suggested that a workplace that is emotionally intelligent helps create environments where staff are motivated, engaged and confident.
We have a great team, composed of excellent leaders. As leaders, working on the attributes of emotional intelligence, which include knowing and managing one’s emotions, recognizing the emotions of others and motivating oneself, can only strengthen our ability to lead and build a healthy work environment.
