A new school year has arrived, which means new ideas, fresh perspectives and setting goals. This year my goal is to commit back to this blog and continue to communicate with each of you about all the exciting and impactful things happening at the LPSD.
This Summer has been a busy one at our schools with various maintenance projects taking place. At Lloydminster Comprehensive High School, much of the flooring has been replaced on the main floor and the LCHS Community Track has been resurfaced for the upcoming 2020 Saskatchewan Summer Games. Over at Queen Elizabeth School, flooring and four washrooms were redone. Two new playgrounds were installed to replace the old equipment at Jack Kemp Community School. Lastly, Rendell Park Elementary School had new classroom lockers, skylights and roofing installed in the past two months.
We pride ourselves on ensuring that we have safe and up to date spaces for our students and staff. Speaking of staff, I would like to introduce our new staff members joining the LPSD team at Division Office! We have three new Coordinator of Learning and Instruction personnel, Debbie Kruchkowski, Clint Chocan and Connie Patterson. I’d also like to welcome two new Speech-Language Pathologists, Darby Hines and Misha O’Donnell.
We have also had some changes in administration at our schools that I would like to share with all of you:
Elena Brand, Principal of Jack Kemp Community School
Josie Gordon, Principal of Winston Churchill School
Ryan Mather, Principal of Queen Elizabeth School
Nicole Lepage, Principal of Barr Colony School
Aaron Canfield, Principal of Bishop Lloyd Middle School
Becky Peck, Vice Principal of Lloydminster Comprehensive High School
Luke Maw, Vice Principal of E.S. Laird Middle School
August is a time for staff to plan and learn. One of the exciting events that we will be hosting on August 29th at 7:00 in the LCHS Gymnasium is a session entitled, “Inclusion Benefits Everyone” by Shelley Moore. Shelley is a University of British Columbia Ph.D. Candidate and Inclusion Advocate. Shelley has had the opportunity to present across Canada and comes to us with rave reviews as an engaging and passionate presenter. Please accept this as your personal invitation to attend on August 29th and spend some time with us learning about the benefits of Inclusion.
As much as we were all looking forward to summer, we are now eagerly anticipating the year ahead and can’t wait to welcome all of our students back on September 3rd! I hope to see some of you and have the opportunity to reconnect over the weeks and months ahead.
